Leonardo DiCaprio to Star as da Vinci in Biopic

Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio will produce and star in an upcoming Leonardo da Vinci biopic, based on a biography penned by best-selling author Walker Isaacson.

The Italian Renaissance polymath whose areas of interest included architecture, science and music, is perhaps most famously known for painting the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.

"Molly's Game" First Trailer: Jessica Chastain is a Poker Princess

Legendary screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Steve Jobs) marks his directorial debut with Molly's Game, based on the true story of Molly Bloom, a former Olympic hopeful who found herself running the world's biggest underground poker game.

Jessica Chastain stars as the titular character, with Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, and Jeremy Strong rounding up a solid cast.

Although the film is pegged as a leading contender come awards season, it remains to be seen if Sorkin can successfully make the leap from writing to directing.

Molly's Game opens in cinemas on 21 November 2017.

 

"mother!" Theatrical Trailer: Jennifer Lawrence has Uninvited Guests

Javier Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence are husband and wife in mother!, a psychological horror-thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (The Black SwanNoah).

The film, which follows the married couple whose tranquil country life is challenged after mysterious guests (Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer) arrive at their remote home, is already generating a ton of buzz as it will be premiering in competition at the prestigious Venice Film Festival later this month. 

Described by Aronofsky as "closer to Black Swan in spirit than anything I have done in a while", mother! looks to be every bit as dark and compelling as his 2010 masterpiece. 

mother! opens in cinemas on 14 September 2017.

 

Lionsgate to Open Movie Theme Park in South Korea

Lionsgate, the major motion picture studio behind popular film franchises such as The Hunger GamesTwilightSAW, and Now You See Me, has unveiled plans to develop Lionsgate Movie World, its first branded outdoor theme park.

The massive project, which is expected to begin next year for a 2019 opening, will reportedly be the centerpiece of Jeju Shinhwa World, a new resort destination on Jeju Island, South Korea. 

Themed zones will include The Hunger GamesTwilightNow You See Me, the upcoming Robin Hood reboot, and many more. In addition to rides, attractions, and reproduced streets and towns, Lionsgate Movie World will also feature themed restaurants, souvenir shops and entertainment performances.

"The Nurse" Wins The Conjuring Short Film Contest

 

The Nurse has been selected as the winning entry to The Conjuring short film contest.

Directed by filmmaker Julian Terry, he is set to receive an all-expenses paid trip to Hollywood, as well as a personal meeting with both Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg and a New Line executive.

With a planned Conjuring movie universe in the works, a full-length The Nurse feature is not outside the realm of possibility.
